Silver Legacy Resort, Reno:
It began, sadly, on Monday, September 13, the day we had to send our beloved cat Bubba over the rainbow. The same day  Lulu.com notified me that my novel Chumpy Walnut had been published, a lifelong dream fulfilled, but I was so steeped in grief, I barely noticed this milestone (more on Chumpy later.) Later that same day, I got a box of Bachelor Pad Magazine #13 in the mail, featuring my regular movie column plus the first two chapters of my novel,  A Mermaid Drowns in the Midnight Lounge. Again, I was far too depressed to care about something that would normally thrill me. Still in deep mourning, we adopted our new baby boy, Googie, on Wednesday, September 15. On Saturday, September 18, we shot our second guest appearance on Creepy KOFY Movie Time, this time plugging A Mermaid Drowns in the Midnight Lounge (the episode is scheduled to air Saturday, October 2, 11PM, on Bay Area Comcast TV20/Cable 13 featuring the freaky flick Frankenstein's Castle of Freaks.) Right after the shoot, we drove straight to Reno  for a preplanned trip (and a deferred b-day gift for me from Monica) to see one of the last of the legendary lounge singers, Engelbert Humperdinck, live at the Silver Legacy. (He was fantastic - 70 years old and still smooth as ever.) On the way home, on Sunday, September 19, we stopped by the site of our epic 5/21/01 "Rat Pack"-mariachi wedding, the Cal-Neva Resort in North Lake Tahoe. The casino is gone, temporarily replaced with a lounge, though that's due to change when new owners reinstall slot machines soon, operated separately from the hotel and restaurant, which, thankfully, is still fully functioning as  a legacy to former owner Frank Sinatra. Finally, on Monday, September 20, I hosted my fourth Forbidden Thrills movie nite at Forbidden Island Tiki Lounge, this time with special guests Mr. Lobo and Dixie Dellamorto, co-hosting an ultra-psychotronic double bill of The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies and Spider Baby. It was an incredibly strange week, all right - incredibly tragic, incredibly inspiring,  incredibly beautiful, incredibly memorable. I'm emotionally exhausted. Glad it's all behind me. Onward. Cheers.
