On Thursday June 10 (note date change), 8PM-Midnite, no cover, Thrillville is presenting COMIC BOOK SUPERHERO NITE @ Forbidden Island Tiki Lounge in Alameda. Expect powerful cocktail specials with names like "Paradise Island," "The Green Hornet," "Web-Shooters," and "Shazam!", prizes for geek trivia, live supersonic surf music by The Deadlies, classic superhero cinema on the "indoor drive-in" screen, and most importantly - a COSTUME CONTEST! So don your best superhero/heroine/villain/villainess garb and swing on down to your friendly neighborhood tiki lounge and do "the Batusi." I'm in a comic book mood because of IRON MAN 2 and the recent FREE COMIC BOOK DAY, when I met one of my favorite artists, Ernie Chan, at Alameda Sports Cards and Comics. He signed an original print of Wonder Woman as well as an old "Batman" comic from the 70s, which is how I know him, growing up with his work back New Jersey. It was weird and cool, meeting someone you never thought you would, but opportunities present themselves in random fashion sometimes. I didn't even know he was a local guy. Crossing the span of time and space, we shook hands. Now that's cosmic. Cheers.
